Only 90 minutes from Midtown, Manhattan, Emerald Green, a lakefront community, is a peaceful rural development surrounding three picturesque lakes in the hamlet, Rock Hill. This is a great community for all ages as there is something for everyone. Community grounds include two in-ground pools, Sports courts (indoor and out), a gym, a clubhouse, and a well-maintained beach on Lake Louise Marie. Thanks to strict enforcement to preserve the community’s beauty, Emerald Green carries its name well and remains home to many who seek a peaceful seasonal or year-round retreat.
With 1,400 acres of woodland, Emerald Green began in the early 1970s but really took off around 1982. It now holds close to 650 homes with over 300 wooded and lakefront lots still available for building. Within the community are three large non-motorboat lakes totaling 330 acres. These lakes are ideal for fishing, swimming, and boating. Another interesting feature to this community was that at one point a golf course wove throughout the development but has recently been closed down – leaving lush clumps of grass and small hills which add a unique touch to the scenery.
The three lakes in Emerald Green are Lake Louise Marie (the biggest), Treasure Lake, and Davis Lake (the smallest). With Lake Louise Marie being the emerald of the green, many of the larger homes have been built on its waters. The sizes range from 1,400 to 4,000 square feet for lakefront homes. The 30 acres of community grounds border these shores as well. Because of the diversity of homeowners on this lake, houses have been built in all shapes and sizes including A-frames, round homes, stick builds, and many more.
Many professionals have found this community desirable because of its convenient location. This development is about three minutes off of Route 17, a four-lane highway running directly up into Sullivan County from Route 84, making it a convenient drive from Manhattan. In addition, Emerald Green is a five-minute drive from the Crystal Run Medical Center making it a little more convenient for a physician’s schedule . On the edges of Emerald Green are a few little shops, grocery store and two gas stations. This community serves well as the perfect home away from home or a place to raise a family.
