Town of Bethel | 90 Miles Northeast of NYC
Located in Sullivan County 90 miles northeast of New York City, the Town of Bethel is home to the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival. Offering a rural and relaxed lifestyle, Bethel is dotted with open fields and forests covering rolling hills. Most residents own their homes which are home to many young professionals and retirees. It includes the hamlets’ Bethel, Smallwood, White Lake, Kauneonga Lake, and parts of Mongaup Valley and Swan Lake. There are several lakefront communities within Bethel that offer luxury amenities such as The Chapin Estate, Swinging Bridge Reservoir, and White Lake.
There are also several lakes in Bethel that offer access to several water activities. White Lake offers bass and trout fishing with motorboat access. Lake Superior State Park does not have motorboat access but does offer row and paddle boating rentals. Other lakes include Crystal Lake, Black Lake, and Mountain Lake.
